So, here's the stroy: | ||||||||||||||||||||
Once upon a time, there were five guys. They didn't know each other, yet. We'll start with Steven Tallirico, (which was later changed to Tyler) who was born on March 26, 1948. He literally grew up uner his fathers piano. His father was a classic pianist, and was always praticing, so, Steven was always sitting under his fathers piano as he played, thus giving him the inspiration that would fuel his career and eventually make him the person that we know and love today. In 1964, Steven Tyler joins a band called The Strnguers" in which he played the drums for. (Steven would later change the name to "Chain Reaction") In 1966, when Steven was 18, "C/R" recorded the singles, "The Sun / When I Needed You" and "You Should Have Been Here Yesterday / Ever Lovin' Man", this was Steven's first experience, in a studio. At the same time, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton were in a band of their own, "Pipe Dream", but by 1969 was known as "The Jam Band", a free-form, blues-based band from Sunapee, NH. In 1969 both bands are playing at a local club, "The Barn" on the same night. Steven watches The Jam Band perform, and though they weren't tuned, he fell in love with them when they did a cover of Fleetwood Mac's, "Rattlesnake Shake". "They did this song so well that I knew if I could get together with these guys, we could pull the same feeling off with some songs I wrote, so I got together with them...I loved Joe's style. He always played out of tune and real sloppy and I just loved it." Steven Tyler told Circus Magazine during a June 1975 interview. In September of 1970 Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Ray Tabano, and Joey Kramer formed Aerosmith, playing their first gig at Nipmuc Reginal High in Mendon, MA. But in 1971, Ray Tabano leaves the band, (but would later return as a crew member, and start the first Aerosmith fan club) making room for Brad Whitford, an execellent guitarist. In 1972 Steven changes his name from "Tallirico" to "Tyler". During the summer of that same year, Aerosmith lands a $125,000 with Columbia. The band then recorded their first LP, Aerosmith, in just 2 weeks at Intermedia Sounds, in January of 1973, it is released, and sold faster than any other album in Boston at the time. (they are ignored by mainstream media, but does manage to get an outstanding review from Creem Magazine.In June "Dream On" / "Somebody" is released as a single and "Dream On" gets #1 song of the year at 2 popular Boston radio stations.(WVBF - Framingham, and WBCN - Boston) By March of 1974, they are done recording Get Your Wings at the record plant in New York, the first single released from that LP was "Same Old Song And Dance" / "Pandora's Box". The next single released was "Train Kept a Rollin'" / "Spaced". I will continue this story as soon as i can..... | ||||||||||||||||||||
